Sylvia has been part of the ATLAS Training family from the very beginning, and has been invaluable in her contribution to the growth and development of what is now a well established, busy practice. She has shared her business acumen and given thousands of hours of her time towards driving ATLAS Training (& thereby Occupation Therapy) into the 21st century. She has carried many hats over the years, and has so much experience in business, training, education and childhood development that we wouldn't be able to list this it all here, even if we tried!
Following her post-graduate diploma in play therapy obtained through Christchurch University, Canterbury in the United Kingdom as well as a post-graduate diploma in psychology from the Open university she is filling the role of our Play Therapist. She is currently expanding on her already broad skills by researching attachment theory, parent-child relationshionships and the efects of sensory processing disorder on the emotional development of the child and the impact this has on the child's functional and social development. She enjoys working with children and adolescents of all ages and abilities and her particular area of interest is promoting the emotional development and well being of children with special needs. She specialises in working with children with emotional challenges and supporting parents, particularly in their relationship with their child.
